My Favorite Things #7

La Jolla Cove, California

Pack your bags, peeps — vacation season 2015 has arrived! But living in San Diego, I’ve discovered that it’s ridiculously easy (not to mention FUN) to enjoy STAY-cations virtually every weekend. So I’m leaving my luggage in the closet for now, and dedicating this particular post to vacationing at home, wherever that may be …

Milagro's Mayan Mule

This Milagro’s Mayan Mule is a delightfully refreshing Mexican version of the iconic Moscow Mule. Poolside with guac and chips? Hmmm … think I’ll buy a bottle of Milagro Reposado Tequila and whip up a tray of Mayan Mule Boozesicles for the weekend …

Casa Dragones Guacamole

… and a bowl of La Casa Dragones Guacamole. (Thanks to Saveur Magazine for the easy-peasy recipe.)

Massage delivered to me? What a brilliant concept! Simply download the Soothe app on your phone, and in 60 minutes you can be enjoying a massage in the privacy and comfort of your own home. Yes, it’s the Uber of massage!

One of the many wonderful things about being a food lover is the inspiration I find in the extraordinary posts of fellow foodies throughout the world. I’m literally tasting the world while standing in my own kitchen — how cool is that? Why not visit Singapore this afternoon and enjoy a Spring Onion Pancake posted by Geri Tan at springtomorrow.com? YUM!

Blackberry-Mint Salad with Honey Lime Vinaigrette

Could there possibly be a guilt-free salad that is more intriguing on a hot summer Stay-cation day than this Blackberry & Mint Salad with Honey-Lime Dressing? DROOL!!!! (I found this recipe on The Doctor’s Daughter website, which makes it sound even healthier, right??)

Eggplant

I could literally dine on eggplant dishes for days on end, and still crave more. Ahhh, the gastro-glories of eggplant parmesan, Moussaka, grilled eggplant, summer squash and eggplant ratatouille! But when I discovered this recipe for Szechuan Roasted Eggplant, it catapulted to the top of my Must Try ASAP List. (The gentlemen at eataduck.com clearly know their eggplant too.)

Southern California has been blessed with several locations of Diane’s Beachwear, a fantastic boutique carrying anything and everything related to beach and street fashion, swim, accessories and much more. It’s another one of those shops that I can’t manage to leave without a bag full of goodies slung over my arm. This white lace Lauren Kimono has my name written all over it — in the meantime, I’ll see you on the beach!!

Kaanapali Beach, Maui
